Grade 11 - It's A Wrap:)
SOO
Grade 11 is o f f i c i a l l y over, and I can NOT believe it. What I assumed to be an average year due to online classes for the most part, turned out to be, dare I say, the best year of my life. I met an amazing bunch of people, made some crazy connections, worked hard, played a little and partied, of course.
I walked into grade 11 a tad nervous, knowing that I had to make friends virtually. But that turned out to be so much fun. Before the year started, kids in my school made a group chat where we formally introduced ourselves. Everything took off from there. We started talking on house party, we had video calls, zoom meetings and streaks. Those 3 months (April, May and June) were probably the most exhilarating because we could start calling our classmates, our 'friends'.
School began in July and not long after, we had our first mixer. A couple kids from the grade got together to host a party for the AS Level kids. That was an EXTREMELY pivotal stage in the year. That is when we met for the first time, formed groups and spoke to a LOT more people.
With time, we became closer. We had another AS Level party themed 'white lies' in September and hands down, that was one of the best nights of the year. School started physically for science practical kids (yes I broke a beaker on my first day at school and now the lab assistant hates me, great๐) and then later, for everyone else. Highlights include cricket during free classes (definitely had some of the coolest memories here), helping one of our friends (iykyk) take out all her jewelry so that she didn't get caught by the discipline teacher (it's a big deal), messing around during physics practicals, watching one of my friends soak her chemistry paper in water (you know who you are ๐), making reels (duh), going out after school and math classes (trust me, they were the best).
When boards started, the whole atmosphere in school changed. Partying stopped (only for a month though), texting became dry and more people went 'off' Instagram. It was depressing. But by the end of it, what made us sad was realizing that we were done with our second last year of school and soon we'd be applying to unis all over, with a great chance that we might not meet again for a long time.
So my advice to you (if you are an 11th grader) is to enjoy this year, make the most of it, study well so that you can enjoy to the fullest in the vacay, take pictures, keep meeting, don't waste any opportunity and live in the moment:) You're going to have the best year ever as long as you surround yourself with people who make you fall in love with life.
