Love Songs
My fingers glide across the keys And every now and then they cease - For when I think of a word that matches the note I scribble it down before I learn it by rote. I spend my time writing songs galore It used to take hours but not anymore. Since you waltzed your way into my mind Words pour out of me and poems unwind. Ballads come to me from nothing but thin air Stars align in the nights on days of despair. Love songs now have started to come alive They have a single meaning which, from you, they derive. So when my fingers glide across the keys No longer do they halt, no longer do they cease. I needn’t write down the words that I conjure in my mind For they’re carved in my heart and in my heart you will find - A gallimaufry of words replete with love and joy And old songs of heartbreak that you seem to destroy. My piano looks different too, there is surely a change It’s magical, it’s inexplicable and still so strange. The notes no longer resemble ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ - They look like ‘I’, ...
